The city of Carmel is often one of the most desired communities to live in within the central Indiana region. Carmel is known for its family oriented communities, award winning schools and athletics, as well as a vivacious economy. As a result, Carmel continues to be one of the areas fastest growing cities.
Carmel was originally established in 1837 as the town of Bethlehem. The area was previously a territory of the Delaware (Miami) Native Americans and later became home of the Quaker settlers. The town changed its name to Carmel in 1874 because there was already a Bethlehem, Indiana and it later became a city in November of 1974.
Carmel is a distinctly family oriented community which is evident in fact that as of 2000, 43.2% of households had children under the age of 18 living with them and 69.3% were married couples living together. The median income for a household in the city was $81,583, and the median income for a family was $94,210.
A combination of a good location, great schools, low crime rate, and good employment opportunities makes Carmel real estate some of the most desirable in the state of Indiana. Carmel homes prices can vary from the low $100’s to 20 million. In 2005, the average Carmel house was worth $239,500.
With Carmel real estate being so desirable, there are many builders with new communities in the Carmel area. New homes in Carmel typically range from the 200’s to 700+. The majority of the new homes in Carmel are being constructed on the western portion of it borders near Towne Road. One of the newest and biggest of these communities is West Clay, which is a master planned development that is described as a “new neighborhood with traditional values.” Some of the builders with communities currently in Carmel are: Drees, Estridge, Ryland Homes, Beazer Homes, Davis Homes, Arbor Homes, and Pulte Homes. Rebate real estate does work with almost all Carmel builders and can share our knowledge, expertise, and always a 50% commission rebate.

US-31 Becoming a Freeway?
INDOT and the city of Carmel are very seriously considering making US-31 or Meridian a freeway from I-465 in Carmel to Westfield. An open house last week drew almost 200 attendees to the meeting to hear the proposal and comment on the project. As to be expected, there were opponents and proponents of the project. The opponents point to cost and lost acreage of woods that currently buffer the highway from neighborhoods. ...Carmel Indiana Real Estate Statistics
While the Indianapolis real estate market is down in pretty much all categories, Carmel Indiana real estate seems to be bucking the trend reporting at least some positive statistics. The number of Carmel homes sold is down significantly over last year, but the average sales price has actually shown an increase in last years numbers over the past couple of months. Here is a look at what has happened with Carmel real estate for homes under $700,0...Controversal Carmel Tax Bill
A controversial bill in the state senate could allow tax dollars from the West Clay development siphoned over to pay for part of the Arts Center. By establishing West Clay as economic developing area, the city could use TIF (tax increment financing) to allow the city to capture these tax revenues and pay for public improvements. Carmel would like to get $1 million - $3 million from the Village of West Clay retail area to help pay for...
